Kumble: A young woman and her son lost their life after they came under the wheels of a train while crossing the railway track at Mogral Nangi on the night of April 20th. The deceased is identified as Mogral Nangi resident Ali’s wife Suhaira (24) and son Mohammed Shahsad (3). Suhaira had gone along with her son and mother-in-law to visit relatives who had arrived after their Umrah tour.

The house of the deceased is located close by the railway track at Mogral Nangi. While returning back home during the night, Suhaira’s mother-in-law crossed the railway track first and reached the house. When Suharia and her grandson failed to reach home for quite some time, the mother-in-law went in search of them and fund their corpses lying beside the railway track leading towards Mangaluru.

It is suspected that the accident took place when two trains arrived simultaneously on either tracks when the deceased were attempting to cross the railway track. It is presumed that Suhaira and her son must have crossed the first railway track before the arrival of the train from Mangaluru and failed to see the train arriving from the Kasaragod side while she was crossing the second railway track.

The mortal remains have been kept at the mortuary at Kasaragod General Hospital. Since Suhaira’s husband Ali is presently in Dubai, the final rites will be provided to the deceased only after his arrival, informed a relative.

Since the track doubling has been effected here, 5 lives have been claimed in the area since last year.
