Tannirbhavi: Attempted rape of a girl

Panambur: A girl who had visited Tannirbhavi beach was assaulted and faced an attempted rape here on Sunday April 21^st.

A local resident identified as Santu alias Santhosh has been arrested by the police team with assistance from the locals in connection to the incident.

A couple from Vittal had come to Tannirbhavi beach on a visit. It has been stated in a complaint to the police that as the couple was walking along Ganeshkatte, the accused manhandled them, took away their mobiles, gold and money and even attempted to rape the girl.

Notorious Santhosh

Santhosh runs a petty shop and a hotel with his wife at Tannirbhavi and there have been several complaints against him accusing him of extorting money from couples at the beach during afternoon hours by threatening them. It is said that in 2018, there was a rape case booked against him and he was out from the prison just recently.
