Raichur: Hundreds of youths here cast their vote on Tuesday wearing black clothes as a sign of protest in connection with the mysterious death of Madhu, an engineering student of the city last week.

Reportedly, the youth wearing black t-shirts and shirts arrived at the booth and started shouting slogans against the police for the delay in the investigation into the case.

They also expressed that they were attributing their votes to the deceased girl, informed sources.

Meanwhile, the CID police who had taken over the case are continuing their investigation and they also met the Netaji Nagar police, who carried out the preliminary investigation and recovered the body, informed sources.

Madhu, a sixth-semester student of a private engineering college in Raichur had left home on April 13 to attend classes but she did not return. Three days after the incident, her body was found hanging nearby. However, her parents alleged that it was not a suicide but a murder.

Protests erupted soon after the news of the mysterious death of the engineering student spread and intensified after the police termed the incident a suicide.
