Mangaluru: A fun trip to Sri Lanka might have proved to be fatal for a Venoor couple if not for the last minute change of accommodation by the travel agency.
The couple – Dr Keshava Raj and Sridevi – who were on a visit to Sri Lanka to celebrate their marriage anniversary were supposed to be staying at ‘The Cinnamon Grand’ hotel. However at the last minute, the agency accommodated the visiting group at the Clarion Hub located closeby.
Recalling the horror while speaking to a Kannada daily the couple said that they had just checked into the hotel when they heard an explosion from ‘The Cinnamon Grand’ hotel. Soon after the blasts, restrictions were imposed and internet connection severed owing to which the couple could not convey their well-being to relatives
A horrified Dr Keshava said that it was God’s will that they survived. The couple is expected to come back today April 23.
The deadly terror attack that tore through churches and luxury hotels in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday killed over 290 people. Six JDS workers and a woman from Mangaluru were among those killed in the terror attack.
