Yedapadav: Thieves gained access into the famous Ram Mandir here and made off with around Rs 45,000 in cash after breaking open the donations box within the temple early on Tuesday morning April 23rd.
The theft was realized when a person identified as Shankar arrived near the temple in the morning to release water.
The thieves who had gained access into the temple by breaking open the lock of the front door had smashed three boxes within the temple. The donation box contained the donations that were collected during the recent Ram Navami programme that was conducted here. The police suspect that the theft must have been carried out by professional thieves who knew of the collected donation. The door of sanctum sanctorum was found locked and untampered.
