Punjalakatte: Person gives complaint regarding theft only to get caught for the theft!

Belthangady: Punjalakatte police received a complaint from a person from Gampadadda stating that gold and cash had been stolen from his house when no one was at home. Interestingly, police investigation into the case has confirmed that the thief responsible for the theft was the complainant himself. The accused in identified as Sadiq (30), son of Yousub Beary from Gampadadda.
Sadiq had informed the police that the theft at his house took place on April 19th. However, while questioning, the complainant failed to coherent answers and therefore the police subjected him to a detailed interrogation. Soon Sadiq spilled the beans and confessed that he had stolen the items. The police arrested the accused and recovered 62 grams of gold and cash that he had stolen.
The incident
On April 19th, the family members of the accused and their relatives staying in the adjacent house had attended a marriage function organized some distance away. However, on returning back home in the evening they found that their house had been burgled. They discovered that the ornaments and cash kept inside a steel almirah were stolen. Later, Sadiq filed a complaint regarding theft with the police.
The case was investigated by Beltangady police circle inspector Sandesh Kumar and Punjalkatte police sub-inspector K R Suneeta under the guidance of Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police (SP), Laxmi Prasad, additional SP, Vikram Amate, and Bantwal assistant superintendent of police, Saidul Adavat.
