Poll officials seize Rs 46.21 lakh cash from SUV in Mumbai

Mumbai: Poll officials seized Rs 46.21 lakh cash from an SUV in Byculla area in south Mumbai, police said Wednesday.
Byculla is one of the assembly segments in Mumbai South Lok Sabha constituency that goes to polls on April 29 along with 16 other seats in Maharashtra.
A squad of the Election Commission found the cash in the SUV during combined security check with police in Saat Rasta Tuesday evening, a police official said.
Officials are questioning one Ishwarprasad Solanki who was travelling in the SUV, to ascertain the source and purpose of the cash, he said.
Authorities have apprised the Income Tax department about the seizure, he added.
