Mysuru Dasara elephant Drona dies of suspected heart attack

Mysuru: The much-loved Dasara elephant Drona died of a suspected heart attack at the Thithimathi Elephant Camp in Karnataka’s Nagarahole National Park on Friday. Drona had the distinction of carrying the Golden Howdah during the Dasara procession held in Mysuru.
As per reports, Drona was drinking water from a nearby tank when he suddenly collapsed and passed away. Drona died young, considering that the average lifespan of elephants in captivity is 60 years. The exact cause of his death is yet to be determined.
Drona had participated in the Jumbo Savari procession as part of Mysuru Dasara festivities twice in 2017 and 2018.
