Bengaluru: The State government has constituted a committee of five medical experts led by cardiologist Devi Shetty to look into the reasons for the death of Karnataka cadre IPS officer Madhukar Shetty.
It is gathered that the state government formed the committee following suspicion expressed by his family and friends on whether he got the required medical treatment.
As per the notification issued recently by the government, the committee will also find out if the 1999-batch officer got proper medical treatment before his death.
Based on the committee’s report, the government will decide whether there is a need for a judicial inquiry, informed sources.
Madhukar Shetty, 47, considered an upright police officer, died at the Continental Hospital in Hyderabad on December 28, 2018. He was being treated for H1N1 while he was also believed to have suffered from cardiac complications.
