Udupi: A fire broke out in the AC coach of Nizamuddin Express (train no 12618), headed to Ernakulam from Mumbai, in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 28. However no casualties were reported in the incident.

The train was approaching Byndoor railway station when a woman passenger, who was supposed to alight at Kundapur station noticed the fire. She immediately notified railway officials and the train was brought to a halt.

Officials separated the bogie which had caught fire from the rest and after making alternative arrangements the train was allowed to proceed to Ernakulam.

It is suspected that the fire may have been caused due to a short circuit in the AC coach.
