Bengaluru: The High court has directed the Department of Animal Husbandry to open cow shelters in 156 declared drought-hit taluks of Karnataka immediately
Deposing the two sperate public interest litigations (PIL) published in this regard, a divisional bench of the High Court directed the department to take up the publicity campaign in this regard and give the responsibility to local tahsildars and deputy commissioners to carry out this operation on a priority basis.
The state government in December last year had announced 156 taluks in the state as drought-hit following poor rainfall and non-availability of drinking water.
