Guruvayanakere: Fire mishap at five places

Belthangady: Fire mishap occurred at five locations in the taluk. A scrap shop godown near Maddadka Sabarabailu near here belonging to Riyaz, caught fire during the night due to a shot circuit causing heavy losses.
The fire was observed at around 8:30 pm in the night after it ignited due to a short circuit. The fire soon spread throughout the godown. The locals immediately informed Belthangady and Bantwal fire stations. Two fire engines from Belthangady and an engine from Bantwal were part of the operation that douse the fire.
The operation to control the fire lasted late into the night till 2:30 am. 15 tons of battery and 5 ton of paper, rut, iron and steel items kept in the godown located in a 20 cents site fell prey to the fire. The total worth of the goods housed within the godown is Rs 15 lakh of which goods worth Rs 5 lakh have been gutted.
At other places
A car belonging to Sunil caught fire at Hunsekatte. More than 5 acres of hilly land behind a private school near Ujire Nidigal was completely burnt in a fire. A rubber estate belonging to Ravi of Shedimane in Nidle village caught fire inflicting an estimated loss of Rs 50,000. Around 2 acres of land was damaged at Manjutti near Killur within Nada GP limits on Sunday after sparks from a transformer ignited the fire. The fire was doused by Belthangady fire brigade.
