Bizarre incident: Playing children irritates a man, so he stabs them

Shaktinagar: In a bizarre incident that took place at Preeti Nagar here, a man stabbed and attempted to kill some children of the neighbouring house who were playing by themselves after he was irritated by their games.

The accused is identified as Devaraj (40), a resident of Shakti Nagar and is presently in police custody. The injured children Hardik (4) and Chirag (9) are receiving treatment at a private hospital in the city.

Since its summer vacation, siblings Hardik and Chirag were laying with their friends in front of their house. Devaraj felt irritated by their games and therefore he equipped himself with a knife and launched an attack on the hapless children. A few of the children managed to escape, but Hardik and Chirag fell prey to the predator and received knife injuries on hands, head and face.

The parents and locals rushed to the spot n hearing the screams of the children and soon shifted the injured children to the hospital. It is learnt that they are far from danger.

Kankanady police have registered a case in this connection and arrested the accused on Sunday morning. He has been remanded to judicial custody.
