Mysuru shocker: Woman gang-raped, male companion assaulted

Mysuru: In a shocking incident a 23-year-old woman was reportedly gang-raped by three persons after assaulting her male companion at Lingambudi Palya on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday late night.

The police have launched a search to apprehend the culprits, who are yet to be identified.

On Wednesday night, the victim was supposed to meet a man, she had befriended over Facebook. The duo had visited an abandoned place in a private layout, in the area at around 10.30 pm where the accused were consuming liquor. The trio is said to have assaulted the man and later gang-raped the woman in his presence.

Inspector General of Police (Southern Range) Umesh Kumar, Superintendent of Police Amit Singh and others visited the spot. A case has been registered under IPC Section 376 and 379.
