Govt buses collide: Driver from Kundapur division dies

Kundapur/Sakleshpur: A KSRTC bus driver died after two government transport buses collided with each other along NH 75 near here. The deceased driver is identified as Prabhakar Nayak (40) from Honnavar.

Two KSRTC buses, one plying from Bengaluru to Subrahmanya and the other from Kundapur to Bengaluru hit crashed into each other near JSS School in Bage village in Sakleshpur taluk at 3 am on Thursday morning. The impact of the collision killed the driver of the Bengaluru bound Ambari Sleeper class bus on the spot. The conductor of the very bus, identified as Rajesh from Byndoor suffered injury.

The condition of Nikitha Agarwal and Venkatesh from Bengaluru, who are admitted at a private hospital there is critical. More than 16 passengers from Bengaluru and Sullia region have suffered minor injuries and have been admitted at a private hospital in Hassan. It is being said that the cause for accident was the thick fog.

The deceased driver Prabhakar was serving KSRTC Kundapur division for the last 10 years and used to mostly work in Bengaluru bus route. His mortal remains were brought to Kundapur division where it was honoured in the presence of senior officials. Later it was sent to Honnavar.
