Raichur: In a major development in the Madhu death case, the postmortem report suggests that the 23-year-old engineering student from Raichur committed suicide and was not sexually assaulted before her death.
On April 16 Madhu’s dead body had been found hanging from a tree in a deserted area on outskirts of the city, three days after she went missing. The police had arrested a youth on suspicion of murdering Madhu. Following protests demanding justice for Madhu, the case was handed over to the CID.
It is gathered that the postmortem reports points out that except for the neck, no injury marks were found on Madhu’s body. Investigating officials said that no other footprints were found in the vicinity from where Madhu’s body was recovered but the team would probe all possible angles to find the cause of her death.
Meanwhile, the CID team has forwarded samples of the victim and the accused to a laboratory in Bengaluru and is waiting for the FSL report.
Members of the Vishawakarma community, to which Madhu belonged stated that they anticipated such a report and for this reason, they buried her body instead of burning it. They demanded a CBI team investigate the case.
