Few days remaining for vote counting: Preparations gain pace

Kasaragod: Lok Sabha elections have been conducted and only a few days remain for vote counting. Preparation in this regard is gaining pace.

Padannkkad Nehru Arts-Science College is the vote counting centre and on the day of vote counting, 250 staffs will be appointed, informed District Election Officer and District Commissioner Dr D Sajit Babu.

Comprehensive training will be provided to the staffs on duty on May 17th at the DC’s office. The counting of votes of the 7 Assembly constituencies in Kasaragod district will be held at Padannkkad Nehru College. For this purpose, 14 tables will be set for the counting of votes per Assembly constituency.

The counting of votes will be held in the backdrop of the polling booth of every Assembly constituency at the same time. Later, the result of every polling booth will be noted in the form of information in 17 C form in the presence of the counting agent and will be compared by the polling staff. The information regarding the particular polling station provided by the election officer will be in the first part of the 17C form. The provided information will include regarding polling station’s name, number, used machines, total voters, the number of votes recorded in the voting machine, information regarding the tender ballot paper used at the polling station, number of test votes and other basic information will be provided o n the first part of 17C form.

In the second part, the counting supervisor of the vote counting centre will document the votes received by every candidate including NOTA. The supervisor will sign this result in the presence of counting agent. Later, the result of all the polling booths will be counted and displayed on the screen at that particular time. Deputy Election Officer, Inspector, Micro Inspectors, Senior Officers of the Security Bureau and others will be within the vote counting centre.
