Kerekatte: Thirsty Bison rescued from a lake

Siddapur: A thirsty bison which came in search of water ended up stuck in a lake located in the middle of a farm belonging to Yashoda Shetty near Kerekatte in Hosangadi village on Friday night.
On Saturday afternoon around 3 pm, a family member went near the lake to leave water when the situation of the bison being stuck in the lake was realized. The forest department was immediately informed who then rushed to the location and safely lifted out the bison from the lake and released it into the forest.
Shanker Narayana, Zonal Forest officer A Gopal, Sub division Forest Officer Eranna Mayachari, Forest Conservator Praveen Kumar, Prakash Bankapura, Gururaj, Forest protector Chandru T, Shivanand, Wildlife Sub Division Forest Officier Manjunath and other were part of the operation. Hosangadi GP president Yashoda Shetty, member Jayaram Ganiga and local youth provided assistance to the department in the operation.
