UDF candidate Raj Mohan Unnithan attacked by CPI (M) activists

Kasaragod: Raj Mohan Unnithan who is United Democratic Front (UDF) Lok Sabha candidate from the constituency has been allegedly assaulted by the activists of the ruling CPI (M) party. The victim also happens to be a Congress leader.

The election commission ordered repoll in four booths in the constituency on May 19 after the EC was convinced bogus voting by certain persons in these booths.

The attack

Mr Unnithan was allegedly attacked by CPI (M) when he was engaged in campaigning at Pilathara for soliciting votes for him. A private TV channel’s reporter who was on location also fell prey to the attack. Injured Unnithan has been hospitalized. UDF has called the attack as ‘destroyers of democracy’.
