Rs 1 crore recovered from B’luru man; IT raids businessman

Mangaluru: Income tax officials raided the residence and office of a businessman identified as Raju Pawar in connection to the recovery of cash amounting to 1 crore rupees from Manjunath (56) from Malleshwaram, Bengaluru by the police on the rounds near car street here on Friday May 17. The raid was conducted on Saturday May 18.

The police on morning patrol had arrested Manjunath after he was found in possession of Rs 1 crore in cash in a sealed packet and failed to provide relevant document or reason to justify the amount. He only claimed that he was oblivious to the contents of the package which were handed over to him by a man in Bengaluru and he was supposed to hand over the same to a person in Mangaluru.

The information divulged by Manjunath led to the raid at the office and residence of Pawar where police found some documents, inform sources.

Meanwhile, another individual identified as Manjunath (40) from Davanagere was arrested after he was found in possession of Rs 24 lakh unaccounted cash. He too have been taken into custody on failing to provide relevant document or reason.
