Yakshagana artiste’s video goes viral

Malpe: The video of artist Chaitra V Shetty from Kadekar, who danced for “Yare Neenu Bhuvana Mohini” Yakshagana song at a ‘Mehandi’ ritual held a day before wedding has gone viral on social media and made news statewide.
On May 15th, Ms Shetty who is a B.Sc nursing graduate, acted upon the repeated request of her relatives and danced to the Yaksha song at a ‘Mehandi’ programme which was organized at Nujimane in Kurkali near Katapady. The video captured at the event has gone viral on Whatsapp as well as social media and lakhs of viewers have appreciated the dance.
Chaitra was attracted towards Yakshangana when she was in 7th std and got trained under the guidance of Rajeeva Tonse. She is also a prominent dance artist and chande player in Durgambika Women’s Yakshangana Team created under the leadership of Gangadhar G Kadekar.
