Elderly progressive farmer mowed down by a speeding car at Haleangady

Mangaluru: A speeding car mowed down an elderly man at Haleangady along NH 66 on Sunday May 19th. The deceased is identified as Rukkayya Moolya (96) from Pavanje near Haleangady was a progressive farmer.
The speeding car hit Mr Moolya while he was crossing the highway in front of his house. He was immediately taken to a private hospital located at nearby Mukka. According to the doctors, although the patient was responded well to medications he succumbed to a severe heart attack.
The city north police station has registered a case in this regard. Rukkayya Moolya is survived by wife, four sons, and three daughters.
Progressive farmer
Mr Moolya was a popular progressive farmer, and had been felicitated and honoured by many local and international organizations. Even at this advanced age, his interest in farming had not waned and lived a disciplined life. He made it a point to walk to his field everyday without fail which was located by the side of national highway.
