Bengaluru: An FIR has been filed against Vishwavani, a Kannada daily for allegedly publishing a fake article on Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.

The JDS party secretary, who filed the FIR with the Srirampura police alleged that the article was completely false and that the said article defamed Nikhil’s and his family’s image.

The complaint said the particular news item that appeared in Vishwavani on an alleged heated conversation between Nikhil, who recently lost in Mandya Lok Sabha constituency, and his grandfather and JD(S) party supremo H.D. Deve Gowda, was meant to tarnish the political career of Nikhil and to extract money.

No such incident as reported had taken place, and the whole news item was a figment of imagination, the complaint alleged.
