Notorious rowdy Ummer Farooq arrested after police open fire

Mangaluru:  A notorious rowdy was arrested after the police personnel opened fire on the rowdy in self defence when he attempted to attack them during the early hours of Wednesday, May 29.

Apparently the police had gone to arrest the notorious rowdy Ummer Farooq when he turned hostile on the police which compelled the latter to open fire in self defence.

According to police source, Farooq is wanted in several cases including the conspiracy to kill Sameer who is an accused in Ilyas murder. Ilyas was the brother-in-law of Farooq and was also part of the Target Group. Farooq had conspired with Surma Imran and others to murder Sameer.

Farooq has been admitted to a hospital due to the injuries sustained in the incident. Meanwhile, police constable Sandeep was also injured in the skirmish.
