Bengaluru: Amid reports that a cabinet expansion or reshuffle is on the cards in a bid to save the Congress-JD(S) coalition government in Karnataka, Urban development minister U T Khader has said that he is ready to step down from his post for the sake of the party.

Speaking to reporters here Khader asserted that no individual is above the party and if he has to sacrifice his post he would do it willingly.

The Congress party, which is facing dissidence from few of its disgruntled MLAs huddled into a meeting on Wednesday to save the coalition from an intensified BJP onslaught.

According to sources the party is likely to ask few of its ministers namely – UT Khader, Jayamala, Priyank Kharge, Krishna Byregowda to step down and pave way for disgruntled MLAs. However few leaders have expressed that the reshuffling exercise might only worsen the situation and a final decision in this regard would be arrived only after due discussions with Congress high command, they added.
