Bantwal: The death and assault threat given against Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha Congress candidate Mithun Rai must be considered seriously. The action of the accused is condemnable. There is information from police sources that elected representatives are putting pressure on behalf of the accused. The police should not bend to any pressure and do their work, requested former minister B Ramanath Rai at a press conference.

Kartick Kumble, who has given the death threat is the prime accused in the politically motivated couple murder that occurred in the bordering district and is loitering in and around Bantwal. Therefore the case must be considered seriously. If the accused in the previously occurred murder of Sharat, Jaleel Karopady, Harish, Ashraf, Nazeer are to be considered, they were those connected with those groups associated with two castes. The lawyers representing such workers are also appointed by the party itself. Not one worker from Congress party is involved in assault or murder cases, he said.

I have saved God’s money

There is fake news that I have stopped the supply of rice to the school. I have not stopped the rice. I have only saved Rs 4 crore in God’s money that was being offered by Kollur temple yearly. For that, I have Kollur devi’s blessing on me, he said.

A team which was part of the celebratory procession of the Lok Sabha candidate’s victory, visited the house of Badakabail GP president Premalata’s home when there were no men in the house and burst crackers at the premises. They also used offensive language and gave death threats. I condemn such behavior, he informed.

I have met Bantwal sub division ASP and submitted a request regarding the pressure being applied on the police to close the entire case, he said.

Those who are saying that fights used to take place when Ramanath Rai was in power and now there is none, must observe who caused the violence then. It should be understood that they belonged to the organizations of two separate castes, one of which is a sub-organisation of a national party – B Ramanath Rai
