Illegal cattle transport: three arrested

Yedapadavu: The accused who managed to escape from the clutches of pro-hindutva Bajrang Dal group while transporting cattle illegally in a pick-up truck were nabbed by Bajpe police.
The arrested are identified as Mohammed Shareef (33), son of Mohiuddin Kundhi, a resident f Mundelu in Handeli near Mijar, Latish (44), son of Vittala Poojary a resident Shabrikere Vasukennabettu in Tenkayedapadavu and Ibrahim Khaleel alias Monaka (42), resident of Handelu in Puttige near Mijar. Another accused identified as Arif is on the run.
On Thursday night, the workers of BD observed a pick-up vehicle (KA 19 AA 1106) being driven at high speeds and in a suspicious manner and gave it a chase. The vehicle was finally stopped near Yedapadvu junction where it was ascertained that cattle was being transported hidden beneath a tarpaulin cover in the vehicle. The accused however managed to escape on the occasion.
Bajpe police were informed immediately. ACP Srinivas and DCP Hanumantharaya visited the spot, seized the vehicle and handed over the cattle to a goshala at Maravoor. A case in this connection was registered at Bajpe police then and the accused were caught on Friday.
