Mudaru: Illegal cattle transport; five arrested

Karkala: The workers of the pro-hindutva Bajranga Dal organization have stopped a pick-up truck which was smuggling cattle at Kelabhatra Angadi in Mudaru village of Karkla taluk and handed it over to the police on Saturday.

The arrested have been identified as Basheer (29), son of Yusuf from Kallakalambi in Addur village Mangaluru, Ashmat (25) son of Rehematulla, a resident near Kasaba Karkala, Imthiyaz (33), son of Ismail, a resident of Ammemari in Farangipet, Mansue Hussain (33), son of Hussain, a resident of Addur Nadugudde and Anil Poojary (28), son of Anand Poojary, a resident of Shirlalu Kodanjeya.

7 animals were being transported inhumanely in the vehicle.
