Shiroor-Nirgadde: Lorry stolen from a garage

Byndoor: Thieves have stolen a lorry kept for repair work at a garage at Nirgadde within Byndoor police station limits on Friday.
The lorry named Mookambika Kripa, belonging to Narasimha Devadiga had be kept at the garage for body work and other repairs. On this occasion, the battery of the lorry had been removed. However, the resourceful thieves came equipped with another battery using which they left equipped with a lorry.
Regular thefts
Regular thefts have been occurring in this area since 2-3 years. Three years back, lakhs of rupees in cash was stolen from the house of a elderly couple here. Later the house of an employee fell prey to thieves who managed to steal gold and goods worth Rs 2.5 lakh from the house. Last year, diesel was stolen from 4 parked lorries. Later, 6 tires of a lorry were stolen. Interestingly, a house here fell prey to theft thrice. Recently, a gas cylinder was stolen from a petty shop with the aim to steal money from an ATM by using a gas cutter.
Suspected involvement of locals
Since more than 10 thefts have already occurred in this area, involvement of the locals is suspected.

Speaking of the issue SP Nisha James said, “I’ve got information regarding the Nirgadde case. I’ll collection information from officials regarding the previous thefts here. Strict action will be taken to prevent theft. The public need not feel scared,” assured the official.
