Bengaluru: In a planned suicide pact a man hanged his 12-year-old son to a ceiling fan and later forced his wife to end her life. He, however, back off from ending his own life and failed to kill his 17-year-old daughter.
The accused id identified as Suresh Babu (48), a salesman with a private firm. The incident took place Sunday, June 2
Suresh informed police about the incident and blamed his dead wife. But police grew suspicious on hearing different versions from Suresh and his daughter. They questioned Suresh’s daughter who revealed that Suresh had planned the family suicide over a financial row. He forcibly hanged his son in front of everyone and later forced her mother to commit suicide.
It is gathered that Suresh and Geetha had borrowed money from private lenders and were also running a chit fund, which ran into huge losses. When investors and money lenders began to harass the couple, the duo contemplated family suicide.
However, Suresh had second thoughts and decided not to die, informed sources.
The HAL police arrested Suresh for murder and abetment to suicide and further investigations are on.
