Dondole: Crocodile found in an abandoned well; rescued

Belthangady: Locals at Dondole here grew much frightened after a crocodile was sighted inside an abandoned well here in the taluk on Sunday, June 2.
The finding of the wild animal was informed to Pilikula Nisargadhama officials who arrived to the spot and safely fished out the croc from the well and released into Charmadi rivulet on Monday, June 3.
Apparently the croc was five and half feet long and was found in a defunct well belonging to a local by the side of forest area. It is assumed that the animal must have ventured out of the forest in search of food as the river nearby rivulet has gone dry and then accidentally fell into the 15-feet deep well. Local deputy range forest officer, S Vinod, had visited the spot and arrangements to feed the scared crocodile were made by the forest officials.
Experts from Pilikula Nisargadhama informed that in case the crocodile is found injured, it would be taken to Nisargadhama. However, he crocodile was found healthy and was released into Charmadi rivulet, informed a forest official.
