Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister U.T. Khader on Monday alongwith Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil S inspected the Thokkottu flyover, which is due to open for public use on June 10.
Khader instructed the NHAI officials to construct a pedestrian path and widen the service road to facilitate easy movement of vehicles after inspecting the works.
As motorists, travelling towards Ullal from Mangaluru will find it difficulty to take a right turn immediately after descending the flyover Khader asked the NHAI officials to make provision for a U-turn at Gatti Samaja Bhavana in Kapikadu, some 150 metres away from the flyover. This will reduce the risk of accidents, he said.
He told NHAI officials to come out with a proposal for an underpass or a flyover from the service road as a permanent solution. The district administration too would prepare a plan and both would finalise what was appropriate, he said.
The drains in Thokkottu should be cleared before the inauguration of the flyover, he urged.
