Campco records historic business of Rs 1,878 cr

Mangaluru: Campco cooperative society which is the prestige of cultivators has achieved a business of Rs 1,878 crore in the year 2018-19, incidentally recording the highest amount of business in its 46 years of service to member cultivators and also increasing the amount of areca nut purchase.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Campco president S R Satishchandra gave the details regarding he business conducted by it in the 2018-19 term.

The institution purchased Rs 1,589.15 crore worth 57,209.64 metric tonne of areca nut of which, 27,362.90 MT worth Rs 882.61 crore was red areca nut and 29,846.74 MT worth Rs 706.54 crore was white areca nut. Of them, 25,066 MT worth Rs 826.03 crore of red areca nut, 29,700.73 MT worth Rs 767.37 crore of white areca nut, altogether 54,767.30MT of areca nut worth Rs 1,593.40 crore was sold, he informed.

Chocolate worth Rs 16.75 crore exported

The chocolate factory of the institution at Puttur produced 14,606 MT of chocolate and 1,106 MT of chocolate worth Rs 16.75 crore was exported, he informed. Vice President Shankarnarayan Bhat, Managing Director Suresh Bhandary and General Manager Reshma Mallya were present at the press conference.
