Puttur: The wedding anniversary of the Assistant Commissioner here falls on World Environment Day and this year, he chose to celebrate the anniversary in a special exemplary way. Puttur Assistant Commissioner H K Krishnamurthy and his wife Jaya Krishnamurthy celebrated the 13th anniversary of the wedding in a simple yet exemplary way. In response to the request of a girl student, both of them went to the house of the student and planted a sapling thereby celebrating their anniversary in a special manner.
Three months back, the student Neha had requested that the Assistant Commissioner come to her house on the occasion of the World Environment Day and celebrate the day by planting a sapling at her house. Since, the AC’s wedding anniversary also falls on the same day, the AC accompanied by his wife visited the house of Neha and planted a sapling.
Plants are become scarce in the beautiful environment of the Malnad. Lack of pollination has led to the under-development of plant resource. On such an occasion, using one’s birthday or wedding celebration as an excuse to plant a sapling makes the occasion useful. On that day, I had given 5 fruit bearing saplings to every individual student. The saplings given by me has been utilized well by them. Such care must be taken by everyone, said H K Krishnamurthy sharing his opinion.
Response to student’ request
Last year during the four-laning of the road between Puttur and Uppinangady, trees had to be removed at Harady. A few students however, requested the AC Krishnamurthy to save the trees from the axe. But since the trees had to be inevitably removed for the road works, the students were instead provided with 45 fruit bearing saplings of good breed by the AC who also felt happy of the care shown by the students.
