Kundapur: “Our forefathers used to spend their nights in darkness. They used to work hard and sweat for their livelihood. As the human beings have destroyed the gifts of nature and used the electricity more than required, a situation of turning our face towards Sun has come. The use of solar lights is very apt in resolving the electricity issue due to scarcity of rain. The scheme taken up by A G Kodgi for converting the whole village of Amasebail as a solar village has become a model to the whole country. He has successfully implemented the Grama Swaraj Yojana of Mahatma Gandhi. Important changes are possible as the village development scheme of Shree Kshetra Dharmastala gave priority to the change of life of commoners along with financial independence,” said Dr Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala after inaugurating the stage programme at the valedictory function of the Solar lights gift programme on Sunday, June 9.
“Kodgi has been given a new dimension through solar scheme. From dreams comes thought. From thought come project. From the project a village gets developed. Because of the solar scheme every house in the village of Amasebail has got light. Light is the sign of development,” added Mr Heggade.
Udupi Pejawar Math Seer Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji gave blessings and said, “A G Kodgi has made a light revolution by installing solar lights in the whole village of Amasebail. The gift of light of Kodgi for the villagers of Amasebail is very precious. A person can serve the people without any ego. The work of seeking god through service is great. From the Math, we are giving the facility of light to Malnad, areas affected by Naxals and backward villages. It is really appreciable that the schemes and work taken up by Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala Dr D Veerendra Heggade is renowned at the national level.”
Dr Veerendra Heggade, Pejawar Seer and Kota Sreenivas Poojary were felicitated on the occasion. A G Kodgi presented scholarship to students who have scored distinction in the Amasebail high school, in the name of his father Krishnaraya Kodgi. A procession was taken from the office of the Amasebail Charitable Trust till the high school.
The programme was jointly organized by Amasebail Charitable Trust, Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala Gramabivruddi scheme, Karnataka Bank, Amasebail gram panchayat, Karnataka renewable energy development ltd and the Deputy Commissioner of Udupi district.
