MLA Bhat seeks to address complaints regarding highway road construction

Udupi: Areas where highway construction is in progress between the city and Manipal was visited by MLA Raghupathi Bhat on Tuesday June 11. The MLA undertook the visit in the backdrop of several complaints he had received from local people regarding the problems created by haphazard road work.
The road under construction was badly hit during the recent rains. The people have been encountering several problems here since the road works began. The drainages in Manipal and Laxmindranagar areas are badly hit during the monsoon. The connecting roads in these areas have also been washed away. On reaching the sites, the MLA scrutinized the problems.
The MLA instructed the concerned to address the issues raised by the people. Noting the complaints of the locals regarding the unscientific U-Turns in Laxmindranagar area the MLA asked the contractors to create connecting roads on temporary basis. The MLA gave a week’s deadline for resolving the problems faced by the locals and assured the locals that he would visit again to inspect the progress during the next week.
The MLA gave instructions to the authorities to build bus bays, drainage and footpaths systematically in the available space and make full use of available government land.
