Savanur: A teenager drowned after he ventured out into the waters near Shantimogaru bridge on the evening of June 12th. The deceased is identified as Mohammed Ashwan (15), son of Hameed, originally from Vittal, presently residing at a rented house at Parane. The teenager was pursuing 9th std education at St Philomena’s High School in Puttur.
Ashwan had ventured into the water with 6 other friends, eventually got caught in a current and disappeared. Later, after extensive search, the teenager’s corpse was found. The mortal remains of the teenager was fished out to the bank by the locals even before the arrival of the fire personnel. The corpse was taken to Kadaba hospital for post mortem post which it as handed over to the family.
Ashwan’s father Hameed is employed abroad. His mother Awwamma’s paternal home is located close to Parane, and the family was living in a rented house in the vicinity. Aswan was a good Kabaddi player and is survived by his mother, brother and sister.
The location was visited by Kadaba SI Prakash Devadiga and Bellare SI D N Erayya along with their staffs and assisted with the rescue operation. Puttur sub division DySP Dinakar Shetty has visited the location as well.
