Domestic help raped; accused arrested

Mangaluru: A man has been arrested in connection to raping the domestic help working at his house in Pandeshwar. The arrested is identified as Ravi Ucchila (40), a resident of Subhashnagar in Pandeshwar and is employed at a gas agency. The victim in question belongs to the schedule caste.

The lady was working at the house of the accused since 7 years. Ravi not only used her for coitus, but also tortures her mentally and physically. He used to give her sleeping tablets, have coitus and capture images of the act. He would then blackmail the lady that if she left the work, he would share the images on social media.

The victim lady also alleged that she got pregnant recently and had doctors carry out an abortion.

Based on the complaint by the family of the victim lady, Pandeshwar Women’s Police station has registered a case. The accused has been remanded for judicial custody.
