Kaup: Four months back an unidentified corpse was found lying in a bush near Majuru railway bridge and track and the police who are still waiting for the forensic report for the identification of the corpse have meanwhile requested assistance from the public for the identification of the corpse.

Case details

On Feb 10th, Ganesh, who resides near Majuru railway was informed by his young daughter who was playing in the courtyard that a fire had broken out near the railway tracks. When he went near the fire he noticed a corpse burning in the fire.

Several suspicions

The location from where the corpse was retrieved was not easily accessible. It was as if the mouth of the corpse have been covered by a cloth and its intestine had spilled out of the body. No screams were heard from the area. Hence, there was a suspicion that the person must have been murdered somewhere and then disposed-off here by setting it on fire. Dilkush sweet found in Mysuru bakeries, Haribai Desai beedi packet from Pune, Bindhu water bottle, torn lungi and black sunglasses were found in the vicinity of the corpse. Other than these items, no other item which could be used for murder o suicide were found.

Police effort to identify the corpse

The police have not only sent information to all the police stations, but also attempted to identify the corpse through Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Since the body is completely charred, its identification has become tedious. Only after the arrival of the autopsy and forensic reports will the cause of death be ascertained, informed Kaup CI Mahesh Prasad, who is leading the investigation.

The police have now requested assistance from the general public for the identification of the corpse. Any information regarding the dead person may be provided to Kaup police at 0820 – 2551033 / 9480805449 / 9480805466 or Kaup CI office at 0820 – 2552133 / 9480805431 stated the release.
