KRV protests against Union Minister for taking oath in English

Belagavi: Karnataka Rakshana Vedike members were arrested by the Karnataka Police on Wednesday, June 19 for protesting against Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Railways, Suresh Angadi, for taking oath in English as a member of the Lok Sabha.

Suresh Angadi, who has won for the fourth time consecutively from Belagavi, took oath in English as a member of the Lok Sabha.

As per the sources, Karnataka Rakshan Vedike or Karnataka Defence forum is a pro-Kannada organization held a protest against Suresh Angadi for taking oath in English instead of Kannada.

The activists who took out a rally from Chennamma circle, burnt an effigy of the Union Minister. They later laid siege to the minister’s home in Sadashivanagar here and demanded a public apology from him.

Meanwhile, speaking on the issue KRV leader Deepak expressing his outrage said, “All the MPs from Karnataka have taken the oath of office in Kannada. However, Suresh Angadi and Anant Kumar Hegde have insulted Kannada by not swearing in Kannada. They both should immediately seek an apology from Kannadigas.”

Karnataka Rakshan Vedike is known for their activism in the interest of Kannada-speaking community in issues like Belgaum border issue, Krishna river water sharing, Cauvery water dispute, Hogenakkal, Mahadai project and so on.
