Mangaluru: Since a few months, ‘Balamangala Express’ toy train stopped its services at Kadri park due to technical reasons. It is now prepared to restart its service again.

Along with the trouble with the train’s valve and hydraulic engine, its spare parts had to be procured from Bengaluru. Due to this reason, the train which should have been available for the pleasure of children was parked in a room under lock since a few months.

However, technical experts arrived, repaired the train and a trial run was attempted successfully on Wednesday evening. But, since there were some minor problems, the technicians started the repair work on Thursday morning and the engine was repaired to function properly by the evening.

Service throughout the week

The toy train will be providing its service in the evenings from 4pm to 7pm from Monday to Saturday and will also be functioning the entire day on Sunday. The ticket price is Rs 10 for children and Rs 20 for adults.

Train’s specialty

The current length of the railway track here is 1.2km and the track width is 2 feet. The train has the capacity carry a load of 75 children at a time. The train has been created at the cost of Rs 1.35 crore and has three bogies.

Train ready for service

“Due to some technical reasons, the service of ‘Balamangala Express’ toy train at Kadri park was stopped. Presently, technical experts have arrived and repaired it. Hence it is ready to function,” said Sundar Poojary, Deputy Director, Women and Children Development Department
