Mangaluru: The Department for Urban Development has prepared a draft copy of the soon-to-be-introduced green building bylaw policy, informed District in-charge minister U T Khader.
Speaking to reporters at Circuit House here on Monday, Khader, who is also Minister for Urban Development said that the committee headed by the principal secretary to the Urban Development Department has finalised the draft policy and the same will be approved by the state government.
Emphasis has been laid on the implementation of a solar power system, rainwater harvesting, planting of saplings, among other methods, along with laying the guidelines. Sustainable solid waste management, sustainability of building materials, fire protection and safety requirements are other features of the policy, Khader said. He added that authorities have been directed to identify and protect heritage structures.
He warned of disciplinary action if anyone violates the guidelines laid in the policy while those implementing the same will be given incentives.
Responding to a question about reported cases of dengue at Gujjarakere, Khader said that they have discussed the matter at review meeting and advised people and the health department needs to be alert.
