Social workers had joined him to a destitute home

Udupi: Kannada movie producer and businessman, M  Krishnappa (90) from Malluru, who had attempted suicide around a year ago by jumping into the sea and was then admitted into a home for the aged by a social worker breathed his last at a hospital in Ajjarakad on Tuesday.

It is learnt that on the request of the in-charge of the ashram, Krishnappa who was suffering from age-related disease agreed to get admitted to the hospital and was admitted to the district hospital by social workers Nityananda Olakadu and Taranath Mesta Shirur.

Almost a year ago, Krishnappa had decided to commit suicide by jumping into the sea at Malpe in the backdrop of being confused with his life. Later, social workers got him admitted into Karunya Ashram, a shelter for destitute being run by Kumar in Katpady on Nov 24, 2017.

Krishnappa was partner in the production of many Kannada movies. In 1977 he produced the movie titled ‘Geddavalu Nane’. Ashok and Srividya were the lead cast in the movie and was directed by Aruru Pattabhi. M Rangarao had produced music for the movie.
