Due to drug abuse, youngsters end up indulging in crime. This is the age where you get attracted to many things and do different things. When you are in peer group, you feel like doing something new and experiment on lot of things.”
“By consuming drugs to get that high feeling for 10 minutes, you end up ruining your entire life. Due to drug abuse, everyone including your family members suffer. Avoid drug abuse. Challenge yourself and do something good and achieve something in your life. We are taking up drug abuse awareness programme for the next one month. We will go hard against drug sellers, dealers and peddlers,” said the Commissioner.
Addressing the gathering, Mahabala Shetty HOD of Forensic Science department, K S Hegde, Derlakatte said, “Drug abuse awareness programme should not be only for a day but should be a continuous process. Once indulged in drug abuse, it is hard to come out of it. One has to face lot of sufferings and lifelong you will be in treatment to come out of it. In order to enjoy few seconds, do not spoil your entire life in drug abuse.”
Lydia Lobo of Link Rehabilitation Centre said, “I work at Link Rehabilitation Centre. Earlier, only people above 35 years used to come to the centre for treatment. But these days, children in the age group of 12 to 16 come to the center with various addiction problems like drug, inhaling petroleum and smelling whitener. Today’s youths have fallen victim to drug abuse and it is impossible to come out of it. I urge every student not to indulge in such activities and ruin your life.”
