22 people diagnosed with malaria

Mangaluru: In the past two months, about 22 persons have been tested positive for malaria at Lingappayyana Kadu area in Mulki.

Most of the people residing at Lingappayyana Kadu are originally from Uttara Kannada. Many of them collect water and do not clear stagnant water which in turn becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes which then continue the malaria life cycle by biting humans. Around 22 persons were tested positive for malaria in the month of May and June, and presently they are cured, informed District Survey Officer Dr Naveenchandra Kulal.

Survey by a team of 14 doctors

A team of 14 doctors visited the area with the intention to spread awareness regarding malaria and to take measures to eliminate the reasons causing the spread of the disease.

Two more suspected cases do dengue

Two more cases of suspected dengue fever have been found near Mangaladevi which have presently been cured.
