Bengaluru: If certain sources are to be believed Vijayanagar (Hosapete) Congress MLA, B.S. Anand Singh, who resigned from state assembly on Monday, July 1 taking the Congress by surprise is unlikely to seek re-election on a BJP ticket in the by-election caused by his resignation and could instead field his son, Siddharth Singh.
Addressing pressperson on Tuesday Anand Singh said, “If my resignation is not accepted by the Speaker for technical reasons, then I will again personally meet him to submit it.”
Anand Singh and Ramesh Jarkiholi resigned from the state assembly membership on Monday, July 1. Singh said he submitted his resignation to Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar. However, Kumar said he was not aware of any such resignation, adding that no leader contacted him.
Ramesh Jarkiholi also resigned from the state assembly membership and submitted his resignation to the Speaker on Monday. However, Ramesh’s resignation comes as no surprise and ends months of speculation about his future.
Ramesh and Singh’s resignation comes at a time when cracks seem to appear in the Janata Dal (Secular) and Congress coalition in the state.
