July 9: Primary school teachers protest

Mangaluru/Udupi: The district primary school teachers of undivided Dakshina Kannada district will be taking a mass casual leave on July 9th and conducting a protest with the aim to fulfill their demands.
Karnataka State Primary Teachers Association’s DK district committee president Shiashankar Bhat K and the president of the association’s branch at Udupi Ravindra Hegde and district secretary Prakash B B provided this information in Mangaluru.
A protest rally will be conducted at 10:30 am from Light House Hill road to the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Mangaluru. In Udupi, a protest will be held at the premises of the Deputy Commissioner’s office from 10:30 am in the morning till noon.
It had been decided earlier that if the demands of the teachers had not been fulfilled by June 30th, then they would fight for it.
The demands of the teachers include addition of the current graduate primary school teachers to the pay grade of graduate primary school teachers, re-introduction of the old pension system by removing the new pension system, immediately after the completion of teacher transfer process, only requested transfers be conducted again in October, LKG and UKG must be started at all primary schools in the state and many other demands.
