Gold smuggling bid at Kannur airport foiled

Kasaragod: The attentive customs officials at Kannur international Airport have nabbed a man on the charges of attempting to smuggle gold. The accused is identified as Muhammed Mufeed a resident of
Malappuram.

Mufeed arrived to Kannur airport from Sharjah and was attempting to smuggle 926 grams of gold. In order to hide the precious metal, he had converted 731 grams of the noble element into paste form and stuffed it up his rectum. But, the accused was caught by the customs officials here who seized the gold worth Rs 24.87 lakh.

A case has been registered in this regard and further investigation is being conducted.
