Falling tree branch, brings down high-tension wire injuring bike riders; bike gutted

Yedapadav: Two bike riders were grievously injured after a falling branch of a jackfruit tree brought down the high-tension wire along with it and landed on a bike. The bizarre incident occurred on the rear side of Ideal school near Yedapadav Kannori on the night of Tuesday. The bike was gutted in the incident.
The injured are linemen Dariyappa and Kariyappa from Bagalakot. The mishap occurred when they were travelling towards Mucchari from Yedapadav.
Dariyappa and Kariyappa belonging to Kaikamba Mescom and Yedapadav Mescom were on their way back to their rooms located at Muccheri. As they neared the house of a resident identified as bike Melwin, a branch full of jackfruits snapped off from the tree here leading to the mishap.
The injured have been admitted at a private hospital in Mangaluru and Bajpe police have visited the spot carried out inspection.
