Puttur: Headmaster suspended for selling mid-day meal rice

Puttur: The headmaster of Haradi Higher Primary School in Puttur taluk has been suspended on the charge of selling rice meant for mid-day meal and furnishing false information in the account books.
The headmaster Mudara’s suspension order was issued by the deputy director of public instruction, Dakshina Kannada district following submission of detailed investigations into the accusations.
The School Development and Monitoring Committee had complained to Education officials about the diversion of the rice, supplied to the school under the Akshara Dasoha Scheme by Headmaster Mudara. Later the matter was again raised at the Zilla Panchayat meeting.
’Akshara Dasoha’ educational officer Rajalaxmi, taluk panchayat executive officer, Jagadish S, and assistant director under the scheme, Suresh Kumar visited the school and submitted report of investigation to the Akshara Dasoha officials. The said report was forwarded to DDPI on basis of which the suspension order was issued.
The senior most teacher of the school Priya Kumari has been asked to function as headmistress of the school.
